Where

Great Fermentations - Indianapolis
5127 E 65th St, Indianapolis, IN, 46220

Event Type

In this class you will culture your very own Sourdough starter from scratch to take home and care for. You will learn how to create, strengthen, maintain your starter and even learn ways to vary a starter towards a particular kind of bread. You will also learn about hydration rates, what to do with leftover starter from feedings and troubleshooting your starter. Once you properly build its strength, this starter will last forever and opens the door to a lifetime of sourdough baking.  And of course we will be sampling some sourdough breads to show you what you can look forward to.  Unlocking the secret to great Sourdough bread begins with a good starter and Frank “The Bread Guy” Petrarca will step you through the entire process in this 1 hour class.

What You Need To Bring:

  • 1 quart jar

  • bowl or snap-lock lid jar as shown in the picture

Attendees will need to have white, wheat and rye flour at home for feeding their starter
