Cabernet Franc is a dark-skinned grape that plays numerous roles in winemaking. It is one of the grapes of the Bordeaux region, but can not be found growing in most wine grape producing nations. It is often thought of as a blending grape, but makes excellent wine by itself! It is sometimes confused with Cabernet Sauvignon due to many similarities, in spite of the fact that its juice is lighter in color. Its flavors and aromas are somewhat fruity and vegetal in nature, and it is often described as having bell pepper, raspberry, cassis, and tobacco characteristics. A wonderful grape that can be used to make lovely wine!
