The Hops Whisperer


You’ll find Brady lurking near the grain room at Great Fermentations on the weekends, spreading his own endearing brand of sarcasm-laced cheer and wisdom. He will be the one not wearing skinny jeans.

Brady started brewing in 2005.  For his first batch, a robust porter, he thought it would be a good idea to leave the grain steeping bag in the kettle for a 90 minute boil.  He suggests you avoid this practice unless you desire painfully astringent roastyness and no friends willing to swap homebrew.

In addition to being an avid home brewer, Brady is a trained master gardener and loves to discuss hops growing with customers.  He has been known to sneak rhizomes into customer’s shopping baskets so more folks can discover the magic and mystery of this amazing herb.

Favorite Quote: Gravity is free, and you don’t have to sanitize it.

Favorite Beer Styles: California Common, barleywines, German hefes and CAP’s. You know… the really sexy styles. Whatever is cold and ready in your fridge will do too.

Total of 11oz of dry hops added at high krausen. The yeast has dropped out a ton on this beer after 5 days, but it is still hazy 🤪🍻👌. Should be kegged, carbonated, and ready to drink by this Friday (8 day turnaround for an 8.5%)!
Test batch for our next IPA kit. The smell in here is amaaaaaaazing 😍🍺🍻
